Elbow Grease

This is the side room of the outbuilding that I cleaned out last Saturday morning.

Before

After

Side note: I love my blue doors and have a great dream of turning one into a bench for our entryway. However, I'm not sure if it's leaded paint on the door or not. Anyone know how I could find out? I don't want to paint over it, but I don't want to die of lead poisoning either....

  1. there are some environmental consultants/inspectors around charlotte who test paint for lead. they usually have labs they take samples back to. i'm not sure how much it costs but it is the safest way to make sure you don't have any lead paint or lead paint dust - that's the bad stuff.

  2. head to the hardware store and buy some lead test sticks, available in the paint section. a cheap godsend in our old fixer. we have had to do lead safe prep in several of our rooms. and people wonder why i dread paint prep and why it takes us so long!
